Men’s Eckshate Anti-Street Harassment Dhaba!
September 8th 2018 – Last Saturday, Men’s Eckshate organized a dhaba (community cafe) in Kensington, Brooklyn to engage men on tackling gender based street harassment in their community. Over thirty community and DRUM members were part of a workshop to develop ways to end street harassment in their neighborhood. The participants committed to intervening when they see harassment, and educating other men to do this work. The men also committed to doing a larger action outside when the weather was better.
Also, Men’s Eckshate held their graduation at the event. This doesn’t mean their work ends. Men’s Eckshate are planning similar actions in all our bases, and working towards ending gender oppression.
