JOB OPENING
Community Surveyor
End Racial Profiling Campaign
PART-TIME- 8 hours/wk
Temporary: July 25, 2011- October 25, 2011
Responsibilities:
•Meet goals to complete surveys in the End Racial Profiling project
•Daily outreach to Muslim, low-income adults in mosques and other sites
•Outreach with DRUM and other leaders to their mosques and other places
•Enter surveys into database, make copies, administrative work
•Recruit 2 new members/ month (adult) as DRUM members; Sign contract and collect dues
•Get new 10 contacts per month
•Enter contacts to database, track leadership activities, membership dues, distribute I.D. cards
General Organizational Responsibilities:
•Report directly to Supervisor every week in supervision meetings
•Administrative: Do assigned office chore, keep office clean & organized
•Evenings and additional days needed at times
•Attend some local panels and events
•Must be flexible with hours
•Participate in an evaluation of performance
•Take own initiative to deepen own organizing skills & political education
•Be accountable to the staff team
•Attend all DRUM adult End Racial Profiling campaign actions
Qualifications:
•Experience in South Asian community and outreach
•Fluent in Bangla or Hindi/Urdu
•Commitment to racial justice, immigrant rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender rights
•Knowledge of social justice issues and current events including immigrant rights, social movements, racial justice, workers/labor struggles, peace movement
•Should have Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic graphic design or flyer-making skills
•Must have proven strong communication skills
Compensation:
Starting salary is commensurate with experience.
No benefits package as this is a part-time position.
Position starts as soon as possible.
