Damayan is a 501 c 3 grassroots organization in New York and New Jersey that

educates, organizes and mobilizes Filipino domestic workers to help them promote and

assert their rights, and to address and create awareness on Filipino forced migration. We

have three core programs: Wage Recovery, LUNAS (Heal) Holisic Health and Gender

Rights where we help workers access services, education and Know Your Rights

trainings. Alongside our core programs, Damayan implements a solid organizing model

where we build a wide Filipino domestic workers membership base and develop a

democratic structure of decision making and workers leadership. Last year, we launched

our strategic campaign against the labor trafficking and modern slavery of domestic and

other low-wage workers. Our campaign is focused on advocating for trafficked Filipino

domestic workers for the short term, with a long-term goal of building a bigger labor

trafficking campaign that will unite and mobilize all trafficked low wage workers in the

US. Damayan is also a part of and actively helps in developing the domestic workers

rights movement in New York and at the national level.

DRUM- Desis Rising Up & Moving is a multi-generational, membership based

organization of over 1,200 low-wage South Asian immigrant workers, youth, and

families organizing for social and economic justice in New York City. DRUM organizes

low-income, largely Muslim, undocumented South Asian immigrant families and youth

through base-building and membership services, leadership development, campaigns for

policy change, and movement building. DRUM’s four programs are: (1) the Racial &

Immigrant Justice Program, (2) YouthPower!, (3) the South Asian Workers Center and

(4) the Global Justice Program. DRUM’s internal structure ensures low-income people
